Well, I guess I will be the first to post here. I started flying rc helicopters in the fall of 2008 at the age of 50, and my first heli was a Blackhawk 450SE. It was a challenge starting out with a CP heli, but was a good place to start for me. Wanting something bigger, more stable, and easier to see, I built a Hurricane 550 and love it. I am now building a Hurri 425 and can't wait to get it finished. Not sure at the moment what my next project might be, only time will tell.
I decided to start this site so that others can share their knowledge, ask questions, tell us about your day, or maybe even find a flying friend close to you.
I hope you enjoy the site, Jerry

Nice work Jerry,
Will spread the word, nice to see a dedicated Gaui forum. Hopefully we can get a few more guys to drop in and add to the fun. If you need any help or have any questions I'm involved with a few other RC adventures and will gladly lend a hand.
Cheers, Shane

Hello Shane, Thanks for joining, and for the offer of helping to get the site going. I will definitely keep that in mind. I really like my Gaui helicopter and just thought it would be nice to have a forum where other Gaui owners can get together and share their ideas and flying experiences.
Thanks again, Jerry

I'm Jon!
I've been flying since late March 2009 aged 43. Now 44 and loving the hobby. Started out with a Blade 400 which I must have spent more than the cost of a new Trex 700 on!! Bought the Gaui 550 in October and absolutely love it. Must have over 100 flights on it now.
Getting brave - so looking forward to the spares hot-lines and deals!!

Scott,
Thanks for inviting me over. Most of you probably recognize me from some of the other forums. I'm sure that I'm the old timer in the group at age 62 (pushing 63). I just recently got an H550 but started in the hobby two years ago at about this time of year starting with a Falcon 40 FP. Then on to a Belt CP, 3DX450SE, and now the H550. I don't get off-site to fly as often as most so my piloting skills are minimal but I enjoy building and tinkering and I still get a thrill just setting up something that will actually fly!! I wish the new forum a lot of good luck and hope I can contribute!!
Bill

Hey Bill!
Welcome to the new boards! I'm certain you'll be able to contribute... your building skills are outstanding and don't short change yourself on your flying skills! It's all about fun, bro!

ya know if ya leave that door open just about anyone will wander in... including me Like Jerry I started with a BlackHawk 450SE... nice lil heli but...my eyes needed something bigger.. after a lot of research I got a Hurricane 550 Pro.. All I could say was WOW.. What a difference in how the 2 helis flew. The 450 is now wrapped in plastic baggies and bubble wrap..well.. the surviving parts are at least. the Hurri has taken me from basic hovering to forward flight..to fast forward flight to sport aerobatics (flips, rolls, loops, stall turns and a little inverted... not 3D but more than enough fun for me.. I have converted mu Hurri 550 CF framed heli by switching it to a Head Hunter Frame..complete with direct to swash (with full size servos) a non-stacked frame..and the absolute must have easy mesh motor mount and big balls bearing mounts.. that frame swap has given me a whole new heli to fly...

Turns out, I didn't introduce myself... I don't think I've done it on any forum... hmm... what up with dat? Anyhow, I'm Scott. Let's see... I've been in the computer industry since I was a kid, seriously... 34 years experience, degrees, certifications, all that junk. I'm currently employed by a very large telecom company and work at one of the former Big Three in the Detroit area. I'm part of a team that runs all the networks for that concern. I've been on the Internet in one form or another since before it was really called the Internet. I've been into RC Helicopters for a little under a year. Christmas Day will make it one year. I got AirHogs for Christmas and within a month, I had my first collective pitch heli--a Helipro Black Hawk 500. I crashed that thing so many times.. check out the "Better Helipro Black Hawk " thread on RCUniverse some time. I almost gave up the hobby after being struck and cut up by the rotating full-speed flybar on the BH500. I persevered only to have another life threatening issue--thrown rotor blades. After that, I swore off woodies and decided it was carbon fiber or no flying. The next helicopter was a T-Rex 500 esp. What a great helicopter. It's stable and if set up right, is so quick it's scary. Next comes the reason I'm here... Jerry, our illustrious admin here, asked me if I would pick up a Gaui 425 kit at IRCHA for him. So, my wife and I get to the counter, I get Jerry's kit, then my wife says, " I want one, too." I stood there slack jawed. So, I got a 425, too. Flash forward to today... it's now a Head Hunter Hurricane 550. It's barely Gaui, but its soul will always be Gaui. it's a great helicopter. In fact, it's so flexible, it can fill the needs of beginners to experienced pilots. With the Head Hunter Frames, it's taken off to a new level. If you can, get Head Hunter Frames. They're seriously good. No.. they're great. Currently, I've got a T-Rex 450pro sitting under the Christmas tree (I'll edit this after Christmas!) and I won a Velocity 50 kit in an online raffle on www.helifreak.com. I'm kind of overwhelmed because after these kits are built, it looks like I'm going to finally have to break down and learn to fly! Oh yeah... I used to play a lot of guitar until helicopters came around... now... not so much. I have to balance! Enjoy the site guys! Scott

lol... Scott used to play a lot of guitar... and I'm just learning to play.. My wife and I picked up a basic electric setup for our oldest boy.. nice Ibanez with a 15watt amp.. then that same day I had an Ibanez and amp given to me..because the guy that had it screwed up his wrist and can't play any more. what the heck.. might as well learn to play... it'll go along nicely with my electric violin

I didn't really give a proper introduction either. I'm a Materials Manager for a large compressed gas equipment supplier in frosty old Canuckland. Been in the LPG business for over 20 years now and just can't seem to get away from it.
I've had a fascination with helicopters pretty much all my life but it wasn't until fall of 07 that I finally got the first bird. An Eflite CX2. That was it, hooked hard. From there progressed to a Walkera #4 FP machine and then a KingII (junk) and finally onto my CopterX 450. I struggled super hard making the jump from hovering to forward flight. So bad at a time I almost gave up on the hobby. Then entered my precious. My first Gaui 200V1 SD. This little guy saved the hobby for me. I spent an entire winter with her hovering and doing orientation training in my basement. Low and behold the following spring I broke the forward flight barrier. Since then I've added a Gaui 200SEV2, 200EX, 255, HK250GT and a CopterX 500SE. In the middle of the heli madness my flying partner and I opened up a small RC estore based in Calgary, Rotor Tech RC Heli Supply. Shortly there after I got involved with Helista Magazine as their Creative Director. As a result my life revolves around propane equipment, the wife and kids and helicopters. As a result my two bass guitars have collected a lot of dust. Don't play much anymore, seems I only play in winter as it drastically effects flight time.

Hey, if you play violin, you've got fingers and vibrato down pat. Good deal, though. If you need any help with guitar setup or just general questions, let me know. I've been playing since turning eight years-old... that's a LONG time ago! Scott lol...

Tell me about it, Shane... I only play guitar when I'm burned out on Phoenix and then not regularly. I wanted a home studio for so long, now I have it. It's just sitting in the basement waiting to be used. The computers used to be music only, now... Phoenix is loaded on one them. This hobby is pervasive!
