That's what I'm hoping, too... although... it might be better to wait... you never know.... maybe I'll want to stay home! LOL! NEVER! Here's what I did with it today... Interesting day today. I opted to use the on/off switch that came with my transmitter. So, yesterday, I installed the servos... no biggie. Today, I decided to actually start setting up the helicopter. Some notes... No clicks on one servo, three and seven on clicks of subtrim were required to get the servo ball links centered. Pretty cool, there. I was probably over anal... I used a square. One thing the manual doesn't cover -- or I missed it -- is the need for the three control arms going up to the swash plate to be level. The manual alludes to it in pictures, but there's nothing that says it outright that I could find. That's okay for me, but it might be a pain for someone who doesn't know. I found something interesting to assist with this. There are holes running through the frame where you can insert a 1.5 mm allen driver or wrench into the hole, through the frame, and use it as a guide. Pretty cool feature if you ask me. It takes out all the eyballing and guesswork. The elevator arm doesn't have this, but there is a small cutout that I used to make sure the elevator arm was level by eyeballing the end of the screw until it was dead level with the small cutout. Actually, the small cutout is more of an indentation. I do have an area of concern.... the large servo wheels that come with Torq servos may have the ability to rub on the ball link. I installed the balls with the small standoff and that helped and probably took care of it. My setup battery gave up the ghost right after I snapped on the last link so I didn't have a chance to fully exercise the servos to see if there was a rub. If there is, I'll just trim the wheels. This was much like the situation Ivan ran into with his T-Rex 600. The links from the servos to the control arms all had to be shortened 1-2 turns, but that's easy, too. Overall... a good, very interesting step. Scott

Another thing the manual doesn't cover is throttle servo setup. After watching he Finless video on throttle setup, I decided t give it a run. It's not easy. Scott

Since I don't own any nitro's, I certainly can't help you out there. But, if I ever decide to get one in the future I will know who to ask for help.

I spent all morning and into the afternoon trying to get it right, or at least what I thought was right. It was such a pain. Links on, links off... arms on, arms off, wheels on, wheels off, adjust this, tweak that. Both of my stock nicad setup batteries died during the process so that's what stopped me. No doubt I'd have called in and continued had they not died. Na.... I would have stopped and slept. Scott

Done! I got the throttle setup. I'm just hoping the low point is the start point. That's the funky thing... you don't use the whole throw with the throttle stick because you don't want the engine to shut off at low throttle. You either program a kill switch (if you have the channels) or use the throttle trim. All very odd to me. So, once I get the gyro installed and the regulator installed (for the throttle servo and the rudder servo), it'll be ready to start up and break-in. Unfortunately, I don't have fuel or a starter. LMAO!!! If so, I could start the thing up Saturday! Scott

Glad to hear it Scott. Looks like you will get to maiden it before your vacation.

Looks great Scott, I really like the colors. Nice, clean looking build too.
I always cringe when I see some of the pics people post of their helis with wires rubbing on links, or the frame or things like that. A nice clean build like yours just makes the entire heli look great.
I hope it flys as good as it looks.

Thanks, Jerry! I'm hoping it flies good, too. It should. CCPM setup was a piece of cake on this bird. Dead nuts level swash with NO adjusting. One or two clicks of endpoints to get rid of interactions, then one turn on one link to bring into zero pitch at 50/50 and voila! Over on the Freak, Clyde Fox noticed a problem with elevator servo wire so I put some heat shrink on it and it's all done! If the weather holds up, maiden as soon as the fuel gets here! Scott

Maiden!
Since my Outrage fuel was delayed, I couldn't wait... I went out and bought a gallon of fuel locally...
Man... what a trip! It took me about 25 minutes to get it started and to keep it running. So much so that I had about a half tank left for maiden! That said, even though it doesn't look like it, I wrecked a set of tail blades in a very, very small tail blade strike with my lawn. Afterward, I looked at the tail blades and one was delaminated at the tip. So, new tail blades. Also, the helicopter was making a very low frequency beating noise. I think it's because I didn't balance the blades before I flew, so blade balancing is happening tonight. I pretty much ran this tank out, which won't happen again because you can hear the motor speed up as it starts sucking more air, leaning out the mixture. But here's the cool thing... I was hoving WITH the wind! Bounding was all me as I was in normal mode just seeing how it would react. Also, on spool down there was a rotational click i could hear that sounds like it came from the tail gear case. I'll pull it apart and see if I can see anything. Other than that, it was a blast! Next few tanks are going to be more of the same, then I'll take it to the field and see what it's really like!

Awesome Scott. Congrats on a great build of your first nitro. With so many nice birds, you won't be able to decide which one to fly, but, I have a feeling the the Velocity will probably be your favorite.
Great job. ;D

Thanks, Jerry. I don't know about that. Each helicopter has it's own reason to be loved. Scott

Four tanks today... I have to say that I'm loving this helicopter more with each minute I fly it. It flies so stable, yet is agile. It's just awesome. Not better than any other helicopter so far, just different. I will say, that it has incredible pop, though. Full collective and it's gone! Dump collective and it's back. That quick.
I do have an issue I need to remedy. I'm going to be installing a fuel magnet. Below half a tank, the stock clunk sucks air when the tank is agitated.
