I see what you mean... on the carbon frame, there are two holes for the bearing block... one for the belt drive system and one for the torque tube drive. The bearing block position for the torque tube drive is lower than the position for the belt drive system. It looks like you may to be creative and grind out the bearing holder for the tail drive shaft. Then get the correct bearing block, and install that. Or, spring for CF frames. Either way, it's going to require more effort than it may be worth, both in time and money.

Hey Fred, one thing to keep in mind if you decide to go with a 425 fiber frame, is that I think the standard 425 frame only accepts mini servos. ( Don't know what you were planning on using for servos ).
I am not 100% sure, but I think the H425XF frame might be made to accept full size servos. AlleRC carries both of them, so if you are looking to go that route you might want to drop them an email and ask them about it.

I think you'll like the belt on this helicopter, it's very robust. In fact, I think the belts are cut from automobile timing belts! At least it looks that way for the 550 belt. Scott

That is a nice looking canopy. I think that might be the same one Bill has. There are 3 of them at Helidirect that I really like and can't choose which one, so I haven't bought one yet. I like the Viking canopy, but it is outta stock.

My H550 kit came with Savox SC-0254 cyclic servos and they seem pretty good for fairly inexpensive standard size servos (Savox makes the newer Align servos). The Gaui 75A ESC is inexpensive and works well (has a great soft-start). It doesn't have a built in BEC so I'm using a separate Hobbywing 5A (7.5A burst) BEC that runs off of 3-10 cell batteries. It pays to get a good gyro and you can't beat the Spartan Quark. I'm using it with an Align DS650 tail servo. Lots of choices out there for all of these items though. Bill

ok thanks bill. so whats so great about the spartan quark gyro? i havent heard alot about them. Then you must not be looking in the right places. ;D ;D ;D The Spartans are just rock solid. Small, easy to set up, highly resistant to vibration. I've owned Telebees, Logictechs, Futaba GY401's and the Quark just works the best right out of the box. The 401 was the next best of the ones I have used in terms of ease of setup and tail holding. Anyway, just my opinion. I believe Scott likes his also.

Just get all three, Jerry, then you won't have to choose!! Then I would still have trouble choosing which one to put on the heli. I know, just build three helis, huh. ;D

Yeah... I LOVE Spartan gyro's, period. I also like the Align GP750 that came with my T-Rex 450 pro. Both the Spartan and the Align are super easy to setup and hold the tail like a rock. They're well worth the extra you'll spend in time saved chasing tail issues.
Unsolicited advice time.... if you follow the directions for both the gyros above and have tail problems... it's not the gyro!

Hey Fred, lots of choices out there as you probably know, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I am using a JR G7703D gyro with 890 tail servo on my 550. I am real happy with it, so, I got a G770 with a DS3500 tail servo for my 425 build. I am using a Gaui esc on the 550 and have one for the 425. It has a great soft start, but does not have a built-in bec. On my 550 I use a Gaui regulator with a separate 2s lipo to power the electronics. For the 425, I got a SportBec to power from the main flight batteries to keep the weight down. For cyclic servos, I am using the Spektrum/JR DS821's on the 550 since they came with my DX7 and they work fine. I just got 3 more of them for a real good price from another member over at "Freak" for my 425. Good luck with the build. Jerry

I have not crashed it yet, but only have about 25 flights on it. Now, the Blackhawk 450 is another story. I think I am on my 3rd canopy and 2nd roll of duct tape. I think I probably have crashed it at least a half dozen times or more, and the lil King 2's, well, I couldn't count the crashes on my fingers and toes.
