yep... I have one...if you don't have one.. you NEED to get one.. it corrects anything bad about the hurri and makes it 10000% better more pics with a review should be in the next issue of Helista Magazine ( www.helistamagazine.com ) more build pics can also be found in their forums.

Great shots, Mystic! Thanks for posting them. You're right... it's a new helicopter with Head Hunter frames!

Nice Hurri Mystic. Great pics too. So good that I think I see some 'chips' on the teeth of your main gear. I gotta save up for one or maybe two of the HeadHunter frames. The problem is, if I just get one, I wouldn't know whether to use it on the 425 or the 550. Btw Scott, since you converted from a plastic frame to the HH frame, maybe you could post a list of all the extra parts needed for the swap. I think Mystic swapped from a stock CF frame to the HH frame.

well... those aren't really chips... more like a couple spot up out of the gear mesh area that a rock dinged when I plowed it in last time... so far I'm logged 10 flights on it... no problems from that gear.. would be a lot more flights... BUT... it's been raining almost every week here..I swear we've gotten at least a foot of rain in the last month.. and expecting another 2-3 inches on xmas eve..to bad it isn't snow..that would equal about 10 inches of snow...

Mystic let the cat out of the bag so I will elaborate. Issue 3 is being worked on as I type this...well it's sitting on my laptop waiting to be worked on cause I'm writing this! There is going to be a big spread on the Head Hunter frame. Ben did a write up for us on the creation of the frame, that is going to be followed by Ric's review and Scott's detailed vid will also linked in the article. I'm actually going to have some free time over the holidays and will be working feverishly over the issue. Look for it in the new year.

I can't wait to see the new issue. The previous issue was absolutely stellar. The interview with Tareq Al Saadi was great! Watching videos of his flights simply amazes me.
You have a great magazine. I truly hope it gets the support it deserves. While I haven't posted there, I do lurk on the Helista forum as well. You do a lot to advance this hobby, Shane. It's appreciated.

Rock dings on the gear, huh? Back in the day, when I had my '67 Mustang GT Fastback with a BB 428 in it I put a lot of those on other guys hoods. We called them "Second place" chips. ;D

I flew the Head Hunter/Gaui 550 today with the Edge Flybar 553 blades.. Outstanding. Different feeling than the Mavrikk wide chord's I had, but still very, very stable and lots of pop for my pitch settings. A great blade!

I tried the RCBooya 500 Quick release mounts today on my Head Hunter Hurricane, but it's a no go.. they're not long enough to clear the servos. So, I've ordered 600 mounts. We'll see! Scott

Now that Ben lives over in the 'land of sand', not sure if anybody can even get a HeadHunter frame any more.

Now that Ben lives over in the 'land of sand', not sure if anybody can even get a HeadHunter frame any more. Ben wrote that he was waiting on them to arrive from Borneo and that he had to temporarily suspend free shipping because he needs to find a carrier in Dubai. These international guys.. LOL! So, yeah... you can still get one. Scott

I'm happy to report that the Head Hunter frames I have survived a VERY hard crash last Saturday. Things that didn't survive are: Blades Flybar Feathering Shaft Main shaft and the killer that I didn't write about in the other thread, the ESC. My Castle ICE 75 blew, either because of the crash or because of excess current draw caused by my regearing and subsequent higher head speed. At any rate, I have a Castle ICE 100 I'm putting in either tonight or tomorrow. I'm hoping the higher rated ESC will give the helicopter more headroom to handle higher head speeds and the current draw caused by the head speed. That said, I have no way to prove it because I can't even get to the logs on the old ESC. Scott

Sorry to hear about your crash, but, I guess it is an example of how well the HH frame holds up. At first I was gonna say that it was nice to see the damage wasn't too bad, but, losing a $100+ ESC is an expensive crash.
Hard to say what happened to the esc though. It might have gotten jolted bad enough to cause a short in it somewhere, OR, if I remember right I think you were running the HK4025-1100kv motor which has a max current rating of 100A, so the 75A one might not have been able to handle the extra current draw. OR, I don't remember which motor you were using and I am just full of sheet ,lol.
Anyway, hope you get her back in the air soon.

Yeah it's a 4020 1100 kv... Here are the specs... I thought it would be safe.
Stator Diameter 40 mm(1.56 in) Stator Thickness 20 mm(0.975in) No. of Stator Arms 12 Magnet Poles 8 Motor Wind 8 Turn Delta Motor Wire 23-Strand 0.29mm Motor Kv 1100KV RPM/Volt No-Load Current (IO/10v) 2.45 Amps Motor Resistance (RM) 0.010 Ohms Max Continuous Current 78 Amps Max Continuous Power 1640 Watts Weight 286 Grams (9.28 oz) Outside Diameter 48.9 mm (1.9 in) Shaft Diameter 4.98 mm (0.19 in) Body Length 46.5mm (1.81 in) Overall Shaft Length 78.7 mm (3.10 in) Max Lipo Cell 6s
Looks like I may have been wrong. But... I think the motor is okay.
I've also gone to the standard T-Rex 600 skids for it, in orange so I can see it better against trees.

Bad news... The frames survived the crash just fine, but one side of one of the servo mounts broke in the crash last week. I've PM'ed Ben to get two, if possible. Scott
