Yeah, I'm a bit of a weather geek, too, so I knew you weren't in the Alley. But it's a cheaper hobby than helis if you stay at home and watch the storms and the chasers on TV. We sit up against Front Range mountains and so we often see the clouds boil up just overhead and watch as they march somewhere to the east. The thunderheads stay visible for hours as they climb into the angry zone.
Not much rain here this time of year, but the wind...we get some steep gradients and it can howl in the spring. Hope your rain becomes sporadic enough for you to fly.
Charging batteries took all my sunlight, so 425 fun will have to wait till the morning.
BTW, the contest kit is still in the box waiting for fundage to be upgraded to Headhunter and X5 head...

The rainy season usually ends here around mid-May or so. June through August are usually pretty nice with occasional T-storms and light winds. September starts another cool rainy period until the snow starts flying in late October or early November. I used to fly all winter when I started out in the hobby, but the wind is nasty here all winter. I would put my Q-grill in the back of my truck to keep me and my lipos warm. I don't fly during the winter any more due to the high winds. I was wondering what ever happened with the give-away 425 kit. Had not heard from you regarding it. You will love the HeadHunter frame upgrade. I have a mid-boomed HH running 500mm blades and I love it. I was hoping to get another one from Scott for one of my 425's, but the wife is going to Vegas next month with her sister and put a hold on my heli funding for now. I am hoping to be able to get it in the next few weeks though. Jerry

I got another set of batteries for my 7hv... Gens Ace 5300's... I thought I had enough EC5 connectors, but alas I had only one set. Such is life. I'm using EC5's on the 7hv because it's a straight 12s helicopter and I don't want to find out the hard way that Deans aren't up to the task. I don't have such fear on any other of my helicopters. EC5's are a quick solder job, so that's cool. Genuine EC5's are expensive though. $7.99 a set. From what I can tell, the genuine connectors are only manufactured by E-Flite and Losi. I've used both, depending on what I can get. Scott

Can't express how happy I am with Powerpoles. I can solder and have a good iron but crimping is great.

Re-maidened the 425 today. Is that even a word? Wow, after the 450X with the BeastX goodness, it's all I can do to keep her in the right time zone. Stupid wind, out of nowhere 25 knot gusts.
So I'm thinking $450 or so for X5 head and 7200BX. That sound about right?
Plus the Headhunter stuff I promised myself...Gah, it's enough to make a guy get another job.

I hate it when things like that happen to me Scott. Just like when I built the 'low cost 425' and was planning on putting the Quark gyro on it, then found out the wires were too short, and I didn't have any extensions. I could have gotten them but instead I just put the DS760 on it. I think I am going to put that Quark on the little 200 whenever I repair it. I have always used Deans connectors with no problems, but I don't run any high voltage set ups, only 2s 3s and 6s helis. Hey Jason, I have learned any easy way to keep costs down. I kept all of my helicopters flybarred. ;D Unfortunately after converting one of them over to a HeadHunter frame I would like to convert all of them now, so........... I need a second job for heli stuff too. Jerry

I think we all need second jobs! So much I want to do, but so little fundage. I do have money put aside for a Spartan Vortex when it's released. I'm going to get a Compass Warp 360 when it comes out, too. It's a bit of a departure from the standard 450 helicopter. Other than that, I'm working wounded!

I hear ya Scott. Lots of stuff I would like to have, but too little funds. Sometimes I think I enjoyed the hobby more when I first started out, with just one helicopter and 2 batteries. I guess, because it just seemed so much simpler back then I actually enjoyed it more.
Now, it's like, do I have enough batteries for each heli, do I have enough chargers to get them all charged in a short time before going to the field, how many helis should I take and which ones, will I have time to fly all of those charged packs out, lol.
It doesn't help that my 12 year old grandson is starting to take more interest in the hobby too. I have let him try to practice hovering with some old King 2's I had, but, I can't get parts for them anymore so I end up "Jerry rigging" parts from other helis to get them back in the air.
It's great that you are adding to your fleet, but I think I might start thinning mine down a little by retiring the old K2's and probably sell the 200 ( although I love flying it ) and the Mars 480 that I never even built yet.

The thing is, I fly everything I have... One day, last spring while I was recovering from shoulder surgery.. I must have gone through 30 charges on different packs in an afternoon. It was more fun than should ever be considered legal... well.. almost. I don't expect the Warp 360 to cost much more than $400.00. I may buy MKS DS92a+ servos for cyclic and a DS95i for the tail.. I can transfer blades from my BH500 to it. I have an AR7200BX waiting. I have a new Scorpion HK2221 that I was going to put in the BH500 before I realized that at higher headspeeds, the thing would destroy itself. So, I'm pretty good to go for it. Scott
