Hi jhazz, You have really set yourself a challenge by starting with a Gaui 200, as these are difficult but very rewarding helicopters to fly and even the 'experts' find them a challenge, mainly because they have an incredible turn of speed. I had to dumb mine right down when I first had it and ended up fitting Trex 250 plastic blades because of the cost of the Gaui ones. The pitch range I set to -2 +9 by limiting the servo travel and swash mix and a 2S battery pack with 80% throttle to give a reasonably low head speed. Once I had done all of these changes I could finally control her (most of the time anyway!).
Hope this helps but you may find yourself getting a Blade MCP-x to reduce crash costs!!

My V1 has an AR6100E and the V2 has an AR6210 and neither have ever been a problem with range, as you tend to fly them fairly close because they are to small to fly comfortably at any great distance. I dare say though that with the speed these things can get away from you, an AR9000 with two satellites might be more appropriate!!
Have fun

First, let me say welcome jhazz.
A few small tips on the Gaui 200. Don't over tighten the tail belt as it will break easily. If you are fairly new to flying I would suggest adding fly bar weights to tame down the cyclics. The fly bar weights come in a pack of two sizes. Start out with the large ones, then as you get comfortable with it, change to the small ones. Then, with lots of flying time, you might just want to remove them and fly it like a pissed off yellow jacket.
The tail can be kind of fussy on the 200 so I would recommend using a good quality gyro and tail servo, or you might end up fighting the tail a lot.
The 200 is so light it crashes pretty well if flying over tall grass. I have put mine in several times in tall grass and just straightened the blades out and took off again as there was no damage done.
Take your time learning with it, because as Barry said, it can get away from you real fast. If you need some help setting things up just ask, and I am sure somebody here will try to help you out. Let us know how it goes.
