Hi Guys, could some of you kind experts help me make a decision. I’ve now got my 425 Basic kit up and running, and really enjoying it, can only manage slow circuits and a bit of nose in hovering – but it’s getting there, I’m still practicing loops and rolls on the sim, so might be a while before I pluck up the courage to try those for real ! Anyway, I’ve now just started a 550 build, again just based on the basic 425 kit, and I’m thinking about ordering a flybarless head and a BeastX controller, the thing is, if I go ahead with that I can’t decide whether to fit them to the new 550 build, the 425 that’s up and running already, or maybe even convert the 425 to a 500 and go flybarless with that. What would you all do? Thanks for helping......... Tim.

Tough question. I would probably do it on the 550. The real question is why? I suppose I'm predisposed to the 550. I had a 425 IRCHA kit and it went straight to 550 simply because I already had a helicopter with 425mm blades and I wanted to see what 550mm blades were like. If that's where you are, then that's what I'd do if I had to do it all over. FBL? Sure.

Well Tim, let me throw in my 2 cents as well. First off, all of my Hurri's still have those flybar thingy's on them so I can't really offer any FBL advice. I have a short boomed one running 430mm blades, a medium boomed one running 500mm blades, and a long boomed one running 550mm blades and I can tell you that each one flys very different. The medium boomed one with 500mm blades is actually my favorite one to fly. It is quick like the 425, but also stable like the 550. It is a nice mix of both. Of course, my "500" is also built on one of Scott's HeadHunter frames which are far better than the stock Gaui frames. Much more precise in every way, and direct to swash servos instead of push-pull type linkages.
I rarely fly my 550 anymore, and I am actually thinking of trying to adapt a .30 scale fuselage to fit on it this winter. The choice is purely yours, but, my favorite of the 3 is the medium boom and 500mm blades.
And BTW, keep in mind that I am far from being an expert.
