I have checked out the X4 and at a price of $449 for a basic kit, I don't think this will be a big seller. It is basically a Hurricane 425 with a CF frame and FBL head. I could build a BETTER helicopter with a basic plastic framed 425 kit and Headhunter frame for around $250 to $300....... Personally, I think Gaui really 'struck out' on the X4. They might sell a few of these kits if the price was around $199, but even at that price I wouldn't buy one. I would probably be willing to pay about $175 for a flybarred version with a belt driven tail. Sorry Gaui but you really "missed the boat" on the X4. Jerry

I agree. I even saw flying hobby having to offer a SAB blade pair to try to sell some
Parts look nice but price is too much when you compare it to 425. Gaui should have stay to X5 and X7 for 3D addicts and offer the 425 for low budget in 500 class (keeping the option to pimp it with carbon and metal parts)

I honestly think it's just a CF version of the 425 with better servo geometry.

I honestly think it's just a CF version of the 425 with better servo geometry. Scott Exactly, and certainly not worth half of the selling price. I think since the X5 was so popular, and such a big seller, Gaui probably figured people would buy it just because it was an "X" series helicopter. I doubt they will lower the price though, even if they don't sell very well. Gaui never lowers their prices, they just discontinue the poor selling kits. Remember the last CF framed Hurricane 425 kit that Gaui offered for $650? They discontinued it because it didn't sell, even though some dealers still have some very old stock of them left. If I remember right, those kits even came with all of the electronics included too. Jerry

Guys, is Empire carrying an x4 flybarless head, so I can put it on a Headhunter?

Jason,
I went with the X5 head on my HeadHunter lowrider conversion. Here's the parts needed (X4 main shaft and swash driver arms) from Torana74 (Vas).
Vas writes, "To do the conversion with the X5 head....
Parts needed.
X5 FBL head assembly. Ie. Head block, grips, FBL grip extensions, 50mm link rods, X4 FBL mainshaft. X4 FBL washout arms. 35mmx 3mm bolt(comes with headblock)
X4 conversion. X4 mainshaft, headblock, X5 main grips, FBL grip extensions,31mm link rods, X4 washout arms, mainshaft bolt(would come with headblock, i think)2 x 3mm x 10mm bolts for washout arms
I would suggest using the red dampers when using 550's on either setup
If using the X5 FBL conversion kit head,
additional parts needed:
spindle shafts G-208345
GAUI X5 DAMPER RUBBER (HARDNESS 95) G-208912 if using 550's ,highly recommended. As Scott mentioned, the X5 FBL conversion kit comes with the black hardness 75 dampers. Head on it's own is listed with the red(95) dampers
GAUI X5 WASHER PACK (W6.2X7.6X0.5)(W6.1X10X1.5)(W4.1X10X1.4)(W3. G-208781
GAUI X5 SOCKET HEAD CAP SCREW - BLACK (M4X10) X 10 PCS G-208874 "
Additionally, you can go with the X4 head, but if you're using blades longer than 425's, you will need to use the X5 grips--it will be safer. Plus, consider not using the nyloc nut for the Jesus bolt. I used a standard M3 nut on mine because the nyloc nut hit a link during cyclic extremes--I also trimmed the bolt.

I'm leaning towards the X5 head swinging 550's.
So, the X5 conversion kit is missing the spindles, dampers, and washers and m4x10 screws...
Ooooh, gonna be fun...Viva Headhunter!

Jason, If you are going to swing 550's, you will have to use the X5 blade grips as the X4 grips only accept blades with up to a 10mm root. Most brands of 550mm blades are 12mm at the root, except for some woodies which I have seen at 10mm.
The lime green colored KBDD dampers seem to be very popular with the guys flying the X5 FES kits. Most guys seem to prefer them over the Gaui black or red ones.
BTW, I guarantee you will love the HeadHunter frame. I know, because I have one, and waiting for a second one as soon as Scott has them available. Even with a flybar set-up, it flys perfect. I am guessing it is even better with FBL for those people that like FBL.

I have greens in mine (Thanks again, Vas!). X5 grips, X5 head and stuff. Yes, you will need those extra parts. It wasn't a biggie finding them, though. The conversion works great. No ground resonance, either. The helicopter in FBL is just so much fun to fly. Scott

Will be looking forward to your build thread when you get started. Hey Scott, what is that in the right side of the photo just under the salt shaker? Looks like a tiny swash plate and rotor blades.

That's my Blade mCP X with KBDD mains! The mCP X is the greatest, real-life training helicopter ever made! Scott

Yeah, mCPX rocks. I'm looking at a frame and swash replacement. Trying inverted stuff in a parking lot because of too much snow on the grass...
My guy at the LHS has those hologram looking stickers on the ends of his KBDD mains. You have them near the root. I left mine in the bag. Any visual advantage? Especially inside?

As far as positioning goes, no advantage that I can tell. I just put them on to make the blades more visible before I crash! I stuck with the stock frame, but I did replace the swash plate with the microheli version.

Ahh, mCP X. I didn't realize that they were so small. I gotta get one of those someday. Everybody seems to like them.
You guys flying them with your regular TX or the one that comes with it?
