My name is Jeff, and I just got my new 425EP plastic kit yesterday.Looking forward to gleaning as much info about this as I can. I am also a member of RCGroups.com, and Helifreak. The tail is built, and so far I am loving the quality of this cheap 500 size,my first.

Hi Jeff!
Welcome to the forum. We hope you enjoy our little piece of the RC Heli pie. I think you'll find that most of use started our Gaui journey on the 425 EP kit. It's a great helicopter.. one of the most flexible you'll find. If you need anything, let us know!
Welcome!
Scott

Thanks Scott, good to be here! I love my 425 so far.I have the tail assy done from the boom block back, and will focus on getting the frame bolted together tonight,as long as I can install the front gear after assembly. Went with a 60T because of my 1600kv motor. Jeff

Hello Jeff, welcome to our little corner of the Gaui world.
The EP425 is a real nice kit for the price, and can easily be stretched to run 500mm or 550mm blades, and many gearing options to get the head speed you want.
You can install the front gear after the frame is assembled. One thing I suggest is to slide all of the shafts, i.e. main shaft, owb shaft, and tail drive shaft into the bearings before tightening the frame screws, and make sure they rotate freely. When installing the main gear make sure the two grub screws go into the 'indents' on the owb shaft. I usually put both screws in to make sure they are lined up, then remove one at a time and put a dab of loctite on and screw it back in.

Thanks Jerry! I saw a video today of a guy(doozer) who had a pinion slide up in flight, (and you know what happened). I mark my shafts with the set screws, grind a flat,PLUS in that flat,I grind deeper,so the set screw can't ride up, or down. Might want to pass this on to everyone.I do it on every shaft(including the flybar)and will do it on every shaft on my 425 that has a setscrew. Thanks for the welcome!! Jeff

Hey Jeff, after re-reading my post, I made a mental error, lol. I said "main gear" but I meant "front gear". The owb shaft has 2 small 'indents' in it that the front gear hub screws go into. I have read many posts on different sites where people did not get the screws into those indents and it caused a crash due to the front gear spinning on the owb shaft.

Yes, Finless Bob took his apart(like I, and everyone else should do) and found his weren't in the indents either. Thank god for these forums, and all the good info inside, huh? Jeff

Jeff, some of the things Finless shows in his 550 vid are not necessary. Gaui made the links longer so Raptor links are not needed.
Also, the the links from the swash to the mixer levers are supposed to be at 90 degrees like the manual shows, and the mixer levers do not need to be level. Finless is very good at building and setting up helicopters, but, sometimes he tries to redesign them in a way that is not really necessary.

Ya,I know. You are right, the raptor links are not necessary with the new kit, they have taken care of that, mine fit fine. And I'm good with the mixer arms not being 90, I trust the GAUI engineers.my dad was an engineer, taught me all I know

Sorry, can't help you there. I don't even have a single flight video myself.
