Being a member of several RC sites, including being one of the admin here, I have read many posts about guys stripping out the hex heads of screws while trying to remove them. Sometimes the problem might be caused by a poor quality hex driver, but, I think the biggest problem is that most people seem to use, and tell others to use, "blue" loctite. Being a truck mechanic at a Mack and Volvo dealer for nearly 2 decades, I use several different grades of loctite on an almost daily basis. The "blue" loctite was designed for use on 'medium-sized' fasteners, which most of our RC helicopters do not have. I have been using the Purple colored "electronics grade" 222 loctite on my helicopters for quite some time now. I have not had any screws vibrate loose, but, they will come out much easier when you need to remove them. The only place I use the blue stuff is on the main and tail blade grips as the bolts are under a lot of stress and I feel more comfortable with the stronger thread lock there. If you are one of those guys that gets frustrated trying to remove screws that you put blue loctite on, give the purple stuff a try. Keep in mind that all of my helis are electric , so the extra vibrations of a nitro might still require the stronger stuff be used on all of the bolts. Just a little tidbit that might help someone out. Jerry

Either that or don't glob on the loctite. Only use enough to cover the first two threads of the fastener, then wipe off any excess with your finger.
Oh, yeah... this is coming from some who has stripped virtually all of the screws in his T-Rex 450pro. Align screws suck!

I am kinda glad you said that, lol. I thought maybe it was me. I have never owned any Align helicopters, but when I recently put the Trex 600 canopy mounts on my HeadHunter frame, I stripped out the hex head on both of the screws while INSTALLING them. I thought the tip on my hex driver must have been getting worn, but I guess it was the screws. I used different screws and they tightened up just fine.

There is NOTHING more maddening in this hobby to me than stripping screws. I don't glom on loctite at all and I'm not making this stuff about Align screws. I replaced all the stripped screws in 450pro with RCScrewz and I haven't stripped one. I keep my 1.5 and 2.0 mm hex drivers in good shape, too. The other day, I stripped a Gaui screw for the front main gear hub. PO'ed big time. I had to drill it out. Not cool. I'm using RCScrewz on it, now too. HeadHunter frames come with screws from RTL fasteners, which I've had NO problem with either.
Align screws suck!
