Jerry,
Thanks for posting the pictures! I can't believe I forgot to take some! Good luck with the build, sir! If you have any problems at all. Please let me know and I'll do my best to take care of them!
I've gone exclamation point happy...

Agghh. As soon as you said that I immediately had this advert in my head and it won't go away. It was played none stop in the UK during the 80s. Drove everyone mad ;D

I wonder how they taste? I hope I don't get a reply...

Jerry, If you wouldn't mind posting what parts you need and where to get them for the 500 build. I've tried searching HF but there search engine is borked. I'd like to do a tt 500 if that's possible.
Thanks man, Robby

Robby, I am going to post some more pics as soon as I get time.
Scott includes nearly everything needed to convert the plastic frame over to the HeadHunter frame, with the exception of course, of the head and tail assemblies, and the gears and shafts. He includes all of the spacers, screws, bearings, bearing blocks, etc.
It comes with everything pictured in the photos that I posted above. I am not finished with it yet, but the only thing I think I need to get is some linkage rods for the servos-to-swash, and some Trex 600 canopy mounts. Scott said he might start including the link rods with the kits, so, basically you won't need to buy anything extra except canopy mounts.
I am going to use the medium length tail boom and run 500mm blades with belt driven tail.
As far as I know the Gaui CF frames have one more set of holes in them for the upper tail shaft bearing block to convert to a TT tail as the block needs to be slightly lower to fit the front drive gear. I believe that Scott is in the process of checking the hole locations for that.
Not sure what parts you will need as far as the tail drive, but the Gaui X5 has a TT tail and runs 500mm blades so the X5 parts might work. Gaui makes parts to convert the CF 425 to TT, but I am not sure if they make one for the longer blades. I will poke around and see if I can try to figure out which parts will work.

Ahh ok. Thanks man. So, I have a medium boom? Or do I need to get a 550 boom and cut it? TT is not a necessity, but it would be nice to have. Belt driven would work too. Just wondering how feasible. I'm also wondering about my Trex 500 canopy that I use. Think it'll fit?

There are 3 different length tail booms for the Hurri. The short one is for blades up to 430mm, the medium is for blades to 500mm, and the long one for blades to 550mm.
The easiest way to tell is by looking at the number on the tail belt if you can read it.
470XL belt = short boom 522XL belt=medium boom 575XL belt = long boom.
If you can't read it let me know and I can measure the tail booms for you as I have all 3 sizes of them. On the Trex 500 canopy, Scott might be able to test one on his HeadHunter framed 550 to see if it fits since he has a Trex 500.

Robby,
I'll check out the both standard and EX sized T-Rex 500 canopies for you. I suspect the EX sized canopy would be the best fit, but we'll see.

found the booms at All e. Just needed a nudge. Thanks Jerry.
Scott, thanks for looking into that for me. I put a lot of effort into my 425's existing canopy. It would be nice if it fit too. I'm using the 6s Hyperion 2600. The rex 500 canopy fits like a glove. However, it's not like I wouldn't mind painting another! I can't wait to see Jerry's build.

Are you going to be using 2650 batteries or something like a 3000mAh battery? Just wondering. I'll try it with every 6s battery I have to see.

Robby,
I've tried Hyperion 2200, 2600, and 3300 batteries. I also tried Thunderpower 2250 and 2700 batteries. No go. I thought for sure the EX canopy would work, but the cut isn't right for the frame. You can't push the canopy far enough rearward so the lower mount would work with either the standard 500 or EX canopy. I tried both Canomod and Fusuno canopies to no avail. Best bet: Standard 550 canopy either from Gaui or Fusuno.

Aw... ok. Not a problem just another canopy paint job. Team Corn Flakes Front to back: Gaui 425, Hirobo Sceadu Evo .30, Trex 600ESP. The Hirobo is my latest project. Bought it used off HF as an intro to nitro. What I'll probably do is keep the 425 stock, and just build a HH frame from the ground up. I was thinking of swinging 500's from the HH frame any way. That's why I'm subscribing to this thread. I'm going to have to borrow ideas from Jerry ;D

I'm thinking the 600 electric canopy will fit, though. Unfortunately, I don't have one to check... Nice fleet, Robby! Jerry has a lot of ideas! Scott

Hey Robby, that is some very unique canopy painting. I like the way they all look somewhat alike. Hopefully I will have some updates on my HeadHunter build by next weekend. I had to order some link rods, so the head is not set up yet, and I am waiting on some plastic screws to attach the landing gear. I have just been fiddling with the electronics placement to see what I like best, then I can make some mock-up batteries to see how the CG works out. I am also fiddling with a couple of acrylic frame sides that I copied from Scott's HeadHunter frames for what might someday be another version of the HH frames if it works as I am hoping. I don't want to mention what I am experimenting with simply because I don't know yet if it will even work, or, if it does, whether Scott would want to offer additional frame designs. Busy, busy, busy. Been salting, sanding, poking, and shoveling thick ice for the last 3 days trying to get my sidewalks cleared so people don't fall and kill themselves. I live in the middle of a long steep hill on a main street with lots of foot traffic and have several inches of ice covering everything.

Hey Guys, I just want to throw this out there... I live fairly close to Empire, All e and National Hobbies. I believe National is a local front for Empire (read: I can drive to pick up what you need, or at least check stock). I'd be happy to spend some time in a R/C hobby store looking around if you need me to @ Jerry, What a winter storm this was. I'm not trying to compare Phoenix to anyone else but, it's not supposed to freeze here. Hell truly has frozen over when this happens. Stay safe. @scott, The 600 canopy is huge.... swamps/swallows the plastic frame. But eh.... I'll just order a blank 425? / 550? Canopy. I've got the paint scheme down to a science now. All I need now is air brush. But that's another thread somewhere down the road

Jerry, Anything you come up with, I'm interested in. Robby, I'd order a blank 550 canopy. Scott

Well, after a long delay due to personal reasons, I am back to working on the HeadHunter build again. I did run into a couple of 'snafus' tonight though, maybe cause I am excited about it and trying to hurry. I have not mounted any of the electronics yet except for the motor, and by the way, the easy mesh motor mount is the shiznit. Took about a minute to set gear mesh. ;D I spooled it up just slightly to check the motor rotation and didn't see the small esc wires touching the first gear. Well, it sucked the wires right in between the pinion and first gear and cut them into tiny pieces. I also found a problem with the stock Gaui cnc head assembly. It has large-headed cap screws in the washout arms and they rub on the link rods going up to the mixer levers, so, I had to replace them with button head screws. As soon as I get all the electronics installed and the head and tail set up I will post some more pics and comments. So far, no problems at all with the frame itself, just mine and Gaui's bone-headed mistakes. Jerry
