Ok guys, I have seen some of your vids here, and on other sites, and would like to bore you all with some of my granny flying someday. What are you guys using for hat cams? What software are you using on your computer to edit them? I gotta get some kind of video camera that I can take with me to the field and shoot some boring vids, lol.

I'm using a Sony Webbie. I put a piece of Scotch fastener on it and on the bill of my had (added some thick CA to hold it down really good). The Webbie comes with software called PMB. It's really a suite of applications whose main use is to catalog your videos by date transferred. It comes with some software that you can use to view the video and do minor clipping, but not real editing. You can't use Microsoft Movie Maker with the video from the webbie because the Webbie records in MP4 format and Movie Maker doesn't support it. There may be a plug-in for it, but I didn't investigate it throughly. I've tried lots of editing software ranging from free Pinnacle Video Spin--not bad, really--to Adobe Premier but I bought Sony Vegas Video. Once you get used to using the track format, it's really easy to use. The rub with it is rendering processing time. The faster the computer the faster processing you'll get. To give you an idea, the ten minute video I made from IRCHA took about 2 1/2 hours to render. I did render it at "Best" quality settings and in 720p 30fps High Definition, though. I was considering a new laptop just for the sim and video, but figured I have time to wait. I know Eddie uses CyberLink Powerdirector and gets great results from it. I tried it and liked it, too. Hmmm, with the grandson and I tossin stuff in and out of the truck all the time, I am afraid to spend that much on something that will likely get broken in short time, but thanks for the info Scott. I wonder if something like this would work ok just for shooting some vid at the field. Looks easy to use and might not get banged around too much. Of course, it might not take very good vids either, I dunno. www.buyincoins.com/4gb-mp3-player-clip-spy-camera-camcorder-dv-dvr-webcam-product-1338.html

Probably would, but in that case, I'd get one of the keychain cameras that Ivan uses. They produce pretty good video and don't seem to be all that sensitive to vibration.
