Hi guys.
Last week when I heard that Ben was leaving the hobby, albeit temporarily--for the most wonderful reason I can think of-- other than to share my joy over finding he and his wife were expecting a baby, my first thought was this, "I love flying my Head Hunter framed Hurricane 550. It's my favorite electric helicopter hands down. What happens if I crash again? Where will I get parts?"
I wrote Ben congratulating him and to find out about spares. Ben made me a very generous offer to take over Head Hunter Helicopters completely. I decided, that besides myself, there were many people who have purchased Head Hunter frames and upgrades such as the "Easy Mesh Motor Mount", so it became obvious that the right thing to do for everyone was to take up the offer.
So, from Friday July 23, 2010 the continuation of Head Hunter Helicopters will begin. Over time Ben will continue to design for Head Hunter Helicopters, as time permits, and has told me that he desires to continue with his plans for an all new Head Hunter frame design. Please be aware that there is no timetable on releasing these new designs. Ben has set his priorities correctly--family first.
Once the stock of parts and frames arrives in the States, I will begin selling them to those of us who need parts or complete frames. At present supplies are limited so act fast!. To correct that, I am looking for companies and/or people interested and capable of cutting carbon fiber as well as CNC machining aluminum parts. Quality will not suffer, in fact Ben and I are working to increase the quality of the machining. I will continue to use the same high quality materials for Big Balls, spacers, servo mounts, and gear mounts.
I truly believe in all Head Hunter designs and in fact, I've had the hardest crash I can imagine with a broken servo mount being the only Head Hunter part to break. I love my Head Hunter Helicopter. The brand lives.
I also need to know what you guys need from Head Hunter Helicopters in the way of spares and future developments. I know many of us would like complete frame kits that include all the necessary parts for a full working airframe, and I will work on that. Your suggestions and ideas are most welcome!
In closing, I would like to thank Ben for his dedication to the hobby and for designing the best frame upgrade and accessories for our Hurricane's.
Ben, enjoy your new life as a father-to-be. I know every time I look at my helicopter I think of you and your new family. Life is at your doorstep.
Scott
