Thanks guys, I hope I can get the belt flipping issue sorted, as I am really liking flying this little bird, even though I have to keep it pretty close due to my rather poor eyesight. It is helping to teach me great "bail-out" practice when I get the dumb-thumb. It reacts so quickly to stick inputs that there isn't time to 'think' about the correction. Scott, a lil Trex 250 or Gaui 200 would make a great 'back-yard' flyer for you. ;D

Dude!!! I honestly don't think I have the patience to build something that small. I've seen Ivan's 250 up close and it's sooooo tiny that I'd go nuts if I dropped a screw! Ivan has patience in droves and I don't. I'll think about it, though. Scott

Hehe Scott, you are right about the patience part when it comes to working on those little birds. Some of the screws are so tiny, I can barely see them with my 'cheaters' on. I got my new tail belts Friday, but had to go over and work on my uncle's truck all day, so I didn't get to work on the 200. Hopefully, I will be able to get a new belt on it Saturday, then try it out Sunday or Monday. I can see that big grin on your face while you are zooming around in the back yard Scott. ;D ;D ;D

Man, even the links! Ivan told me there's a special ball link tool for pulling them and installing them. So... I could see it, too... Looks like the windy season is here. 40+ mph gusts. I hope you can get out today, bro. I'm flying tomorrow. Scott

Well, I spent a few hours working on the Gaui 200 Saturday and found another problem with the tail that I missed. I bought this used and should have gone over the entire heli before flying it, but, I didn't, and keep finding small issues with it. The frame sides of the tail case are/were glass fiber, and worn so bad that the tail shaft bearings were moving almost 1mm inside of the frame sides. That translated into about 3mm to 4mm of end play at the hub end of the tail shaft. I took the whole tail apart, installed new cnc side plates, new tail shaft bearings, new high performance tail shaft assembly, and new tail belt. I took it out to the field this evening and it flew great. In fact, I might need to slow the piro rate down a little now as it is really fast in both directions. ;D ;D My advice to anybody reading this thread that buys a 'used' helicopter; go over it completely from front to back. It will save you a lot of aggravation as I have found out. I have been fooling with this heli for quite a while now trying to get it to fly right, when all I needed to do was go over it right from the beginning and I would have saved myself a lot of frustration. Now that I have been through the entire helicopter, replacing worn parts, and correcting poor set-up issues, it flys great. I won't have to send it to Ivan to get it sorted out now, lol, but, karma is in order.

Thanks Scott, I did enjoy a couple of flights with it this evening. Now that I got the tail issues sorted it is even more fun to fly. Cyclic response is really quick. I was flying some real small, tight, fast circles right in front of my face, lol. I took off standing only about 6 ft behind my 'heli pad', then flew about 6 foot high, going in very fast tight circles about 20 ft in diameter right in front of me, passing over the heli pad with each circle. The rotor disc was basically straight vertical the whole time. At one point, I flipped the tail around 180 and tried to continue the circles backward, but almost hit myself in the face. I need more sim practice with backward flying. The more I fly this little bird, the more I like it. I just wish my eyesight was better so I could fly it a little farther away. I flew some bigger 8's and ovals on the second pack, but, I pretty much have to keep it inside 100 ft away or I can't see it very well. Wish I was about 15 years younger.

So glad to hear your 200 woes are sorted out. They are great helis when they are flying but take a bit of fidgeting to keep them flying well. I hope to some day be able to fly circles. I still just do not have it in me.

I still just do not have it in me. Thanks Ivan, the 200 is really a blast to fly. Ha, I have seen you fly and you are much better than me, tight circles should be a breeze for you. Once you get the 1st circle started, and banking real hard, there is almost no other stick movement. Just hold some aileron and back elevator with an occasional bump of the rudder and it will just fly fast , tight circles all day long. I tried this with the Gaui 425 after flying the 200 and it was kinda scary. Had to make the circles about 80 to 100 ft in diameter as it don't turn near as fast as the lil 200 does.

Well, the more I fly the lil 200, the more I like it, or should I say, Love it. It responds so quick to stick inputs that it really makes you feel that "you" are flying "it". Not real sure exactly why, but I am starting to like flying it better than my 425 and 550. It is a little hard for me to see with my "old eyes", but it flys so well that I can keep it within about 100 ft away and still fly it really hard.
I ordered a Z-Power 5150kv motor for it to see how much quicker it can fly. It currently has the stock Gaui 4800kv motor in it.
Being somewhat new to this hobby myself, the lil 200 has helped my flying skills progress more in a couple months, than all of my other helicopters have in the past 2 years. It certainly keeps you on your toes while flying it, but, it has been a great trainer for the reflexes.

Well, here is another update on my Gaui 200 experience. Everybody should have one of these. This thing is just so much fun to fly, that I look like this after landing. ;D ;D ;D. I have the old version of it too, I bet the newer ones are even better. It is a little too twitchy for me to try inverted hovering with it, but general sport flying is a blast. Can't wait till I get the new motor some day. It is still on 'back order'.
