Are there any tips for putting together the stock canopy? Glue to use? How to do the cutting out? Filler for seam?

unfortunately ya best bet is to take both halves and hurl them in a gracefull arc into a corner of your mancave, then ordering a fg canopy from one of the retailers.if ya do HAVE to use it glue then filler then sand, followed by reinforcing the points where the grommets go seems to keep them together for up to 5 flights...the bloody things are eggshells....

Well, as I am still learning to fly helis, I thought that I would let the stock canopy take the beating before getting a nicer one.

The pic in my avatar is my 425 with the stock, milk jug canopy. Like Marco said, it is pretty flimsy, but, like you I decided to use it till I crash it, although I do have a real nice stock Gaui FG canopy for it.
I cut mine out with an "Exacto" knife, then just used a drum sander in a drill press to clean it up. I wiped down all of the surfaces that need glued with alcohol, and just glued it with some cheap "super glue" from the local dollar store. It held very well. I used the left-over pieces to reinforce it at all 3 canopy mount holes.
I cut 6 small pieces out of the scrap plastic and glued 2 extra pieces inside of the canopy at all 3 hole locations, then just bored the holes through all 3 layers. I didn't really bother too much with filling the seams since it didn't seem worth the time. I just ran a small bead of super glue down all of the seams after it was together, then 'fizz-canned' a little paint on it.
I have about 40 or 50 flights on it, and one minor crash so far, and surprisingly it has held up fairly good, except that it is getting some tiny cracks now at the top where it goes around the swash plate.
