I posted this in another forum, but I thought I'd post here as well. I want to have all my heli canopies look similar, so I took my stock Outrage G5 canopy, sanded it, then repainted it. I had this tiger in mind: Drying after touch ups. I departed with the old paint scheme here. I tried to make it look more like a tiger and less like a Cincinnati Bengal. I still have to highlight the cockpit window, and clear coat it. If I would have had an airbrush, I could have made the transition from orange to white a little cleaner. I didn't want it to look so linear. This was all done with spray paint and tape.

Very nice!!! How do you like the way your G5 flies? Is it FBL? What size blades? 6S?

My favorite heli. Not flybarless, 6s. Flies like a big heli, tons of power, like it's on rails. Scorp Motor HK-2221, Scop 45A ESC w/SWBEC, Quark gyro, HS65's on the cyclic, Hyperion DS13 GCB on the tail. I've changed the stock tail grips to the Align weighted tail grips. I'm changing out the tail servo. I'll probably go with a 3500. The quark and the Hyperion don't get along rock solid. I sport fly so no need for digis on the cyclic. Before the canopy paint job... obviously That's where I put the quark ESC Better view of Quark placement

All finished: A little cockpit glow detail Used all Krylon Spray paint. Triple clear crystal clear coat. Many little bugs, but I'm getting better and catching them before they happen.

Looks great. Are the slots cut out for extra air flow? You could glue some black fiberglass screen on the inside of them and they would blend right in.

I'm sure that why they're there, just not positive. Seems logical. I can tell you that the motor and speed controller have yet to get above warm.
Screen is a great idea. I cut vent holes in my 600 canopy... looked like crap. I even CA'd a mini scoop to direct air right to the motor. It looked like a large Frito. I covered the hole with black screen. Ugly but functional.
I like the way it turned out. Makes the other one's look ugly. So I'm probably going to get an airbrush and start practicing. I like to fly, after all that's why I own them and not a model. However, the builds and the painting are just about as fun for me.
