Jerry, that would be awesome!! On a side note, your post gave me an idea. I dug through my broken blade bin and found some brass bushings in a set of blades that looked to be the right size. I brought them to work and pushed the bushings out of the blades and sure enough they were 4 mm OD and 3 mm ID. They came out of a set of 425mm blades with 5 mm roots so they are well short of the 12 mm length that would be ideal. If you can still see if you have any that you could send me, that would be awesome.
I am airborne but not feeling all that confident in the short adapters.
Thanks guys.

I took out the 20T OWB and put the 19T back in. Swapped out my 14T pinion for a 13T. 60T front main on a 1600kv motor puts me about 2300 RPMs. Punchouts are FAST!!! The sun was setting and I was flying in the front yard so I did not get a chance to flip or roll it yet. The tail seemed decent despite having only 70 mm tail blades. I think that it could probably use a bit more gain. I will play around with it tomorrow.

Well, my computer $hit the bed today so I couldn't watch Ivan's video. I am using an old back-up Toshiba laptop designed for windows 98 and it won't play the vid. Don't know how long it will take to get mine fixed.
Anyhow, Ivan, I couldn't find all the spare bushings that I had that were in a pill bottle, but, I did find a set of unopened 550mm woodies that had a package of bushings in with them. Since I use the CNC grips with 4mm bolts, and don't use the woodies anymore anyhow, I can send you the 2 bushings if you still need them.
They are brass bushings with a 4mm od and a 3mm id and measure about 11mm long. I think this is what you were looking for. If so, PM me your ship-to address either here or over at RCU and I will get them in the mail to you as soon as I can.

Ivan, Looks good to me, sir! What did you end up doing regarding the blades? Jerry, Checking the other thread RE: your computer.

I took the Gaui Hurricane 500 to work and got two flights at lunch. I went 4 min each flight to gauge battery use. It was HOT today and very muggy. The batteries were warm, the ESC was hot and the motor was VERY hot. I ended up putting 1328 back in the batteries so I changed my timer back to 5 min.
I played with the swash mix and turned down the cyclic till it was VERY slow to flip. I wanted to see if it would drop less head speed during a flip. It did improve the head speed drop but just flipped too slow. I went back up a bit on cyclic and dropped collective. If you watched the last video, it had a LOT of pop. I really did not need that much so I brought that down. I increased gain on the tail and it is OK. I think it really needs a longer set of tail blades to be ideal.
I got two more packs in after work and think she is flying pretty decent.

It looks really good, Ivan.. I'm thinking I'm going to enable the governor on my Gaui just to see how it handles things...

I can't wait for the new motor to come in. Supposedly twice the the power of my current motor, no can (so it should run cooler) and short enough to run my Gaui canopy.
I am hoping that with 1300kv and the larger diameter it will have more torque to pull the heli through the flips.

Hey Ivan... I thought I'd let you know what I'm doing about my cyclic issue. I have T-Rex 600 flybars laying around, so I installed that and T-Rex 600 CF paddles. We'll see. It has been too stormy today to fly, but next chance I get, I'll check it out. All my bright orange KBDD tail blades came in today, so they'll get a checkout, too. I even dyed a set of skids today...horribly. They're really dark red. So, I ordered orange T-rex 600 skids. Scott

Scott, very cool. I have heard about using the T600 flybar on the 550 before. I am curious if there is a difference in size between the Gaui 550 and 425 flybar or if they are the same.
Which tail blades did you end up getting? I think my 500 sized KBDDs might be on the short side at 70mm.

Ivan, as far as I know the flybar is the same for the 425 and 550. The paddles for the 550 are much bigger though. The stock tail blades on the 550 are 79mm. Scott, I think you will notice a huge difference in the cyclic response if you had the 425 paddles on your 550, and put on the Trex 600 paddles. I think I missed some of the posts here trying to use this old laptop. It is so slow, that I can type 4 or 5 words before they come up on the screen, lol. The wife is on her way to Wal-Mart as we speak, to pick up a new laptop. Now I just have to get the desktop fixed as all my pics and links are on it too.

I tested the 600 flybar and paddles somewhat today. Looks good so far. I love the way the 92mm tail blades show up against trees. I had to lower gain which is odd, but cool! Never had that happen with plastic tail blades. Cyclic... Looks good. I was able to get the helicopter to stay put and vertical at 0 pitch for a second. Before the helicopter dropped like a rock. So, next trip to the field, I'll get up high and try to flip it again.

Ivan, the blade bushings are in the mail. Scott, keep us updated on the performance with those new paddles and flybar. This new laptop with Windows 7 is the shiznit. BTW, Scott, I got the BSOD info for the other computer. Will post it over on that thread.

I have built a metal head fbl with 470 SAB blades, stretched 500 boom, basic frame. Hacker A40-10S 1600kv provides a lot of power. Using 15t belt tail drive and bigger 75mm tail blades. With V-bar mini heli feels very light and agile in the air. Actually it came out better then I expected. 3300 6S Voltz battery is a perfect fit. I think that the gear train and the frame is too weak for 500mm blades and desent power. This is why I chose 470mm.
